Seven schools in Massapequa and Farmingdale were entered into lockouts on Friday, Jan. 31, as a precaution as police attempt to locate a suspect involved in an alleged domestic dispute in Suffolk County before fleeing west toward Nassau County.
In Massapequa, Lockhart, East Lake, and McKenna elementary schools and the Massapequa High School’s Ames campus entered the protocol. In Farmingdale, the high school, Woodward Parkway and Albany Avenue elementary schools were also placed in a lockout due to the police activity in the area.
There was reportedly a domestic dispute that began in East Islip early on Friday morning, during which a male suspect fled toward West Babylon.
Nassau County Police investigators joined the search as they attempt to locate the suspect, who was reportedly described as an African American wearing an olive green windbreaker.
